Every once in a while, I like to throw a random roll of film in and go shoot areas I already know. I originally found Candido 200 at Blue Moon Camera in Portland, OR. I like to keep a couple of rolls in the fridge just for fun. This roll came out really green, which was a lot of fun! I think it does a good job of capturing the gloom of Seattle winters as well as subduing the sunnier days we get along the way. I’m excited to try this one again a little further into spring. The photos of this set were taken around West Seattle and Seahurst Park. I love watching ships sail in and out of Puget Sound, so seeing this Hamburg Sud was a real treat.
Seattle Seahawks Superbowl Parade – Downtown Seattle
I made the trek downtown today with several hundred other Seahawks fans to cheer on the team for an awesome year. I loved seeing so many people from across the region descend on downtown Seattle to celebrate and party! We ought to do this more often.
I took my Olympus OMD EM10 MkIV and my Minolta X700. It’ll be a couple of weeks before I can share my film photos. Here are my favorites from the digital shots I took today.

Kodak Gold in January
This winter has been unseasonably cold and dry this year. With that have come some amazingly sunny days. What better way to spend a cold sunny day than out shooting film?! This roll of Kodak Gold 200 film was shot on my Minolta X 700. I chose this camera because I felt it would help me focus on layout and context while handling aperture and shutter speed.
Discovery Park
The first set of photos is from Discovery Park.
Discovery Park is an old army base in NW Seattle. There are quite a few trails to hike in the area. On this day, I chose to do the main loop, which is about 3 miles long. This day had a cool mix of clouds and fog that lifted to show some amazing sun!
West Seattle
These photos are from Alki and Jack Block Park. I love the city views from the KC Metro Fast Ferry dock. Jack Block offers a beautiful view of downtown and a peekaboo glimpse of Terminal 5 and Seattle’s industrial waterway. Once, while walking in this park, I stumbled upon a House DJ playing music on a full sound system. It was pretty great!
